Man up, stop blaming the media
THE National Press Club (NPC) is criticizing Overall Deputy Ombudsman Melchor Arthur Carandang for putting the blame on the media over his statement several days ago as regards the purported billions in the private bank accounts of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, allegedly provided to his office by the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
“Instead of being man enough to stand behind the consequences of what now appears to be a totally irresponsible and reckless statement of his with the official denial made by the AMLC, ODO Carandang, like other public officials caught in the web of their own tall tales, has now conveniently blamed the mainstream media for his lapse of judgement.
“Even as the NPC continues to strive to help instill professionalism in the ranks of the country’s working press, this effort is easily frustrated by public officials who would resort to maligning the Fourth Estate any opportunity that they can get to skirt responsibility for their official acts and pronouncements,” Gutierrez said.
“We in the media are just ‘channels’ by which the government transmit to the people its actions and decisions. Stop making us a scapegot. Man up. ###
