He added that more than P500,000 in guaranteed prize money is up for grabs during the event being sponsored by Philracom, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), the Philippine Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), the PRCI and the Club’s supporters in the private sector, Jade Bros. Farms and Jolt Aquamarine Foods Corp.

Two marquee races, sponsored respectively by Philracom and PCSO, have a guaranteed purse of P250,000 each while P10,000 each awaits the winning jockey in the other races, Gutierrez added.

On the other hand, Philracom also agreed to sponsor a ‘photo contest’ for the occasion for members of the Philippine Press Photographers, Inc. (PPP) with a total prize of P65,000 for the winners, including their respective sports editors, while every published entry shall be given a separate consolation prize of P1,000 each.

“As in the previous staging of this event, the fund that we would be able to raise would be used to support the various programs of the club for the members of the press and their families,” Gutierrez said.

“At the very least, the college educational assistance allowance we are giving to children of NPC members for the coming school year is already assured,” he added. ###
