(UPDATE ON THE MURDER OF NPC MEMBER AND REMATE COLUMNIST, JUN BRIONES
THE National Press Club (NPC) is offering a CASH REWARD of P200,000 to anybody who can help identify the REAL SUSPECT/S behind the murder yesterday morning in Masbate province of NPC member and Remate columnist, Mr. Jun Briones.
A kind-hearted “donor” who requested to remain anonymous has stepped forward to help the NPC solve the murder of another member of the press.
As I have announced also yesterday, the NPC is now working closely with the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) to hasten the resolution of Mr. Briones’ death.
Mr. Briones is already the second member of the NPC to be murdered, after Ms. Ruby Garcia, incidentally also from Remate, who was gunned down inside her house in Bacoor, Cavite on April 6, 2014.
There is also a standing reward of P100,000 offered by the local government of Bacoor for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Despite these attacks, the NPC shall continue to be the vanguard of press freedom in the country and in seeking justice to all fallen members of the press. On these issues, it will never be cowed.
